We love it when Digital Champions share that they’ve achieved a goal, and even better when it’s tech related!

Daniel started volunteering with us as a Digital Champion in November 2024. He was interested in gaining experience for work, and was looking for employment – ideally in tech. Just over a year later, we are delighted to say he’s started a paid apprenticeship in a tech role, supporting customers in an education setting to trouble shoot IT problems.
Daniel volunteered at our digital drop-ins where he supported learners with any questions, and our taught sessions, where learners go through a Starting Point skills guide each week.
Daniel also attended Starting Point’s employment and skills sessions. Were we look at transferable skills for work from volunteering, including job search platforms and using AI to support job applications and interviews.
Daniel told us:
“Volunteering has boosted my confidence. I’ve talked to new people and helped people unpick their problems. This is something I may be doing in my new role. I was able to talk about my Digital Champion volunteering in my interviews. I spoke about how I’ve helped people older than myself to use tech, including getting experience of different brands of phone. I would never have had access to these without volunteering.”
Good luck Daniel in your new role, we know the learners are wishing you well too!
Our digital work and skills support is gratefully funded by CDL Software.
