1. Free Mobile Data – National Databank
Data doesn’t need to be expensive. View our Best Value Mobile Data Guide
If you’re struggling to afford any cost of mobile data, you may be eligible for a free SIM card through the National Databank, delivered in partnership with Good Things Foundation.
Eligible people can receive:
- Free mobile data, normally for 12 months
- Unlimited calls and texts
- Support getting connected and using their SIM card
Our team can check your eligibility and explain how the scheme works.

2. Affordable Home Broadband
If you’re on a low income or receive certain benefits, you may qualify for a social tariff.
Social tariffs are cheaper broadband packages offered by some internet providers to help people stay connected.
We can help you:

3. Find Free Wi-Fi in Stockport
There are places across Stockport where you can access free Wi-Fi, including libraries and other community venues.
Stockport Council’s interactive map shows local Wi-Fi hotspots, including whether access is completely free or requires a purchase.
4. Help with the Cost of Living
If you’re struggling with household bills, debt or other living costs, additional support is available.

Stockport Council have brought together a wealth of local support links and money advice information in their ‘cost of living’ online resource page.
You can contact any of the services directly using the links below or by completing the Stockport Support Hub online referral form. You can also call 0161 474 1042, and a text option is available for the deaf community on 07539 468 560.

Free Wifi Map of Stockport
The DigiKnow team at SMBC have partnered up with other local organisations and businesses to create this interactive map of free wifi locations around Stockport. Different coloured pins tell you if a venue is a public space, or if a purchase is required. (ie buying a coffee in a café) Addresses appear as you click a pin.
