Small steps starting where the problems show up – that’s our Starting Point

On a Thursday we head over to Gorton Hub with the One Manchester team to support people there.

This week Chloe helped a lady who has 3 young children. She has just recently lost her husband and has an application on Manchester Move.

She was unable to progress her application without attaching some documents. She said she’s been trying to do this for weeks and has asked multiple people for support but has been unsuccessful. She explained how exhausted and emotional she felt during this difficult time.

We supported her to attach the documents. She was so grateful and said she is happy that this drop-in is here, as she was ready to give up with the application. She said she will return if she has any further issues.

Some people don’t always need classes and lessons. They simply need someone to listen to where the problems are showing up and help to fix it. Our approach is to start with that fix, then when someone has the the head space they can will build on that one skill, they will because know we are here to help.
