At York Street Community Centre, we at Starting Point are proud to be running digital support sessions right where people need them most, in the heart of our communities.
Supported by Stockport Homes, we’ve been able to make these sessions accessible and welcoming, with our amazing team of digital champions on hand to provide one-to-one support.
This week, we welcomed 10 learners, supported by 4 dedicated champions. The range of digital challenges people brought along really highlighted how essential these sessions are. Some learners wanted help downloading and storing photos, others needed guidance on formatting documents in Microsoft Word, while a few were looking for advice on researching new devices before buying. We also supported people with completing important identification checks on the NHS app.
It was inspiring to see learners growing in confidence, building skills that will make everyday digital tasks a little less daunting. By meeting people where they are, we can make sure no one is left behind in our increasingly online world.
This is the first of our small snippets during digitober this year, so share short insights into our day to day activity supporting people to thrive online.
