This week some of our team and digital champions we lucky enough to attend the inaugural Stockport Rocks Volunteer Awards ceremony.
The awards aimed to celebrate the hard work of the dedicated volunteers across the borough, who work for free in their own time.
The volunteers cover a huge range of services between them, and contribute an estimated £105m to the Stockport economy each year.
Winners and runners-up were chosen in 10 different categories, each decided by public vote.
We were delighted to accept a special recognition award on behalf of Anne’s family.
Anne joined Starting Point in 2011, initially as a learner and later a champion and staff member. When she passed away last Autumn she left a huge void in our world and the ability to celebrate her and what she gave to our community was really special.
Huge congratulation to all those nominated and the winners. What volunteering gives to Stockport can never be underestimated.
