Connecting, using and creating local natural spaces – we want to hear from you

Starting Point are working with Community Organisers Ltd & Cheshire Wildlife Trust to have conversations with people who know their communities best. Within our team, know personally how much benefit we gain from using local spaces such as community gardens when hosting holiday activity clubs for young people. Now we are excited about the opportunity to This is your opportunity to help shape future work of Cheshire Wildlife Trust in our community and we want you to help them too.

From the folk on the boating lake at Etherow to the kids looking for tadpoles near the Mersey we know people cherish what we have on our doorsteps.

Cheshire Wildlife Trust believe that no one should be more than 15 minute’s walk away from an area of wetlands and are interested in learning from you about how we can all connect, use and even create local wetlands. This is your opportunity to help shape future work of Cheshire Wildlife Trust in our community.

We are looking for people based in Stockport, Macclesfield, Partington and Wythenshawe to join us in an informative workshop to explore how, together, we can use our wetlands more, overcome barriers and embrace the health and wellbeing benefits from nature.

What are wetlands? Anything from a garden pond to rivers and reed beds – look at this 1-minute video from The Wildlife Trusts to learn more: https://youtu.be/h01c3hlCuqc

We are holding two events next month one online and one face to face to come together, learn from one another and shape future work.

We would be delighted if you could attend one of the below events:

  • 11th July 9.30am – 12.30pm face to face event at The Community Rooms, Cornerstone, Stockport Town Centre
  • 12th July 9.30am – 12.30pm online event via Teams.

During the session you will:

  • Experience a short Cheshire Wildlife Trust’s connect with nature session
  • Have the opportunity to network with others working towards the same aims
  • Help shape future work of Cheshire Wildlife Trust in our community

Finally, we will be running a fun competition throughout the workshops asking people to get out and about beforehand, take a picture of some local wetland and share it with us to show in the breaks. Everyone who submits one or more photos will be entered into a draw to win a £50 shopping voucher of your choice.
