Lights, camera, action!

For the past year we have been talking about how we can really show other people the value of what we do. When writing funding reports and completing evaluations; words just don’t seem to do the project justice!

We are lucky to have such a brilliant and dedicated team at the centre – and a great group of learners with a fantastic sense of humour – so we wanted to show this off!

Consequently, this Monday was a bit different to our usual session as we had a film crew in to capture us in action and interview Digital Heroes and learners who attend the sessions! Bellyflop TV film for TV shows and now they’re in Woodley filming us! It’s our 5 minutes of fame at last!
Looking at how digital technology can improve our health, our Digital Heroes supported our learners to download the Change4Life Sugar Smart app and scan their favourite foods on their tablets to find out their sugar content. Learners then visited the NHS direct website where they printed recipes for healthy snacks and then made these snacks to check that they still tasted good, despite the fact that they were low in calories.
This was then followed but our 4 weekly homecooked lunch. Thanks to Syliva, Christine and Brenda for making such a delicious dinner for us all.

With 30 learners and another 20 diners, then 10 volunteers too, it was another busy morning at the Arthur Greenwood centre!
