Great to have visitors

Last week we were visited by staff from Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Tinder Foundation. It was a great day with some really friendly people. After joining us for coffee at Startpoint Coffee Shop, we headed over to the training flat on 9th floor of Brecon Towers. Here we met learners when gatecrashed their weekly lunch and learn session… not to mention that we sampled the lovely cottage pie and potato bake that our amazing digital champion Anne Holland helped to serve up.

Not stopping there, on the whistle stop tour of Stockport, we spent the afternoon at Cherry Tree Community shops visiting more amazing learners and enjoying some birthday cake from our volunteer manager Laura. Mark Rogers, funding officer for Stockport Homes, spent time talking about the amazing work that we do together to get community like Cherry Tree and Brecon online.

Nick Dodd, digital inclusion officer for the Jospeh Rowntree Foundation said “… thank you for last week! It was really enjoyable for us all – we came away absolutely buzzing with ideas. Seeing Start Point & Stockport Homes’ successes has definitely given us the inspiration for where we need to get to!”.

Dr Laurence Piercy from Tinder Foundation email afterwards to say “Thank you for your warm hospitality yesterday. I know the JRF were very impressed by Starting Point’s stellar community development, and I was too. Thanks also for introducing me to Mark (Rogers) – it was really interesting to talk through some grassroots funding approaches that might be of real interest to others in the UK Online Centre network.”
