A visit from BIS (Business, Innovation and Skills) and Tinder Foundation

Last Tuesday we were privileged to have a visit from Helen Milner, CEO of Tinder Foundation, and Bobbie McClelland, deputy director at BIS.

Both Helen and Bobbie came to see the hard work of the volunteers at Starting Point and the progress of the learners that attend our classes. We had an action packed day with our usual morning sessions at Startpoint and afternoon sessions at York Street Community Centre, accompanied by an open day at York Street and a Family History session above Taylors Chip Shop.

Both Helen and Bobbie really enjoyed their visit and were impressed with the hard work that you guys put into your work with Starting Point. We are extremely proud to have you all on our team.

In addition we would like to say a huge thanks to Angie, a fabulous volunteer from the Arthur Greenwood Centre and local history expert, for facilitating an exciting and engaging session on ancestry. We have had so many comments from learners expressing how much they enjoyed this session and how they are now keen to learn more about their family history.

Thank you to everyone for your hard work, not just for last Tuesday, but for all the time you dedicate to Starting Point – we couldn’t do it without you!
